Top 4 Ways to Send Cookies in the Mail
Cookies are so fun to bake and are one of my favorite gifts to send in the mail to celebrate anything from Mother's Day, Father's Day, Happy Birthdays, Graduations, Promotions, and all of the other holidays we're lucky enough to get to celebrate together during the year.
It can be somewhat intimidating the first time you try to send a fresh baked good, like a cookie, through the mail. Don't fret, I've got 4 easy ways to get those goodies into the hands of loved ones quickly and still in one piece.
4 Easy Ways to Ship Cookies
Inside a large plastic container
My best friend sends me a giant batch of cookies almost every Christmas or New Year. My family and I look forward to it every year. She bakes a variety of cookies and then stuffs a large plastic storage container full of cookies. She stuffs it so full that none of the cookies can move inside the container. Basically, they all keep each other from breaking by being so snuggly packed. She wraps the container within the mailing box with bubble wrap, old newspaper, or packing peanuts. It works like a charm every time.
Inside an decorative tin
A decorative tin is a fun way to "wrap" a gift of cookies. I also love it because it can be reused when your gift receiver keeps the gift train going and fills it with their own gift to give (maybe more cookies! A girl can dream, right?). Similarly to the plastic shipping container one way to ensure your cookies stay whole is to stuff the tin and use the cookies themselves as the cushion. If you don't have enough cookies to do that or have a larger tin, try food grade tissue paper or parchment paper as filler to keep your cookies safe during travel. You'll want to wrap that tin safely inside mailing box using newspaper, crinkle paper or something similar. Sometimes I reuse old gift wrap and use that as filler for my cookie tin gift boxes.
Inside a clear bag or decorative bag
Let's say you're shipping cookies to your kid and their roomates or your extended family and you want each individual to get their own bag of goodies to snack on at their convenience. A great option when mailing cookies to a large group of people at the same address is to put cookie inside a clear bag tied with ribbon or inside a decorative bag. This option works well for one person too and can keep your mailing boxes on the smaller scale to keep those shipping costs down!
I recommend tying the ribbon so the cookies cannot move inside the bag. And if you're going the decoraitve bag route, tape it to insure the same effect. The goal is to have no movement during mailing. That's what keeps the cookies from crumbling.
Hire someone else to do it for you!
This may become your new favorite way to send cookies to your loved ones during the holidays! It's easy, it's a fun surprise, it's delicious and it's a great gift for just about anyone. Everyone I have ever sent a cookie gift box to has told me it was one of their favorite gifts of all time. I mean, who doesn't want a surprise gift of something delicious delivered directly to their doorstep?
Lucky for you, Mamalou Bakeshop is a highly recommended, 5 star rated cookie baking business that can bake and deliver cookies on your behalf for any and every holiday, birthday, celebration, you can think of. When I ship cookies, I wrap each one individually in a heat sealed bag. Then, I keep them safe and sound in a bed of crinkle paper. The cookie mailing box is sealed shut with packaging tape and the cookies arrive just a few days later ready to be enjoyed right away or frozen for later. However they are enjoyed, they will be enjoyed.
